At our next meeting we’ll be visiting Watermark Designs where we’ll talk to Design Engineer Jack Danziger about their use of SolidWorks. Here’s a little preview of Jack’s work with some beautiful examples of renderings created with PhotoView 360.
For our spring meeting we’re going back to Brooklyn!
We’ll be hosted by our friends at Watermark Designs – a Brooklyn based manufacturer of luxury faucets, showers, and kitchen accessories.
We’ll see an in depth presentation Photoview 360 from Andrew Martin and Watermark’s Jack Danziger, and at least one other presentation to be determined.
I want to make this our biggest meeting yet so I’m working on finding some motivation that will double our attendance!

At our next meeting Brooklyn artist and SolidWorks user Jonathan Schipper will show his work – including a sculpture that simulates a glass bottle being thrown against a wall, shattering, and then the fragments being pieced back together.
It might be surprising to know that SolidWorks was used to help out Icelandic singer-songwriter Bjork.
At our next meeting, SWUGNYC member Karl Biewald will tell us how his company AXN-RXN Engineering used 3D CAD to design and prototype portions of the Gravity Flower musical pendulum sculpture used in Bjork’s Biophilia performance. Earlier this summer the sculpture made its debut at the Manchester International Festival in Manchester, England.

It’s time to start thinking about SolidWorks World 2012 (already?!) and maybe that $895 registration fee is keeping you away. For the past few years SolidWorks World allowed users to submit presentations; waiving the admission fee for presenters. If you’ve got a great topic that you’d like to share with users from around the globe visit the SolidWorks Blog for more details.
Our next meeting is coming up fast! This time around we’re featuring presentations on DraftSight and 3D Printing. As always we’ll dig into some SolidWorks tips and tricks and give away some great prizes from our sponsors – SolidWorks, DraftSight, and i GET IT.
In addition we’ll be celebrating summer by raffling off a pair of Yankees tickets!
